I also want to make sure that the newsletter you receive each month is packed with value and the things that you care about most. In order to do that, I think it would help for me to officially introduce myself and give you an overview of my background.

Hi, I am Jourdan, the founder of Black Fiction University.

I have had a passion for storytelling since I was a little girl, and after taking an Audio/Video class in high school, I knew that I wanted to work in the film and television industry. Since then I earned my Masters in Creative writing, worked as a video editor for GPB, Taught high school Audio Video, and worked on 3 feature films and 2 tv shows. It has been a wild ride. I recap the majority of my journey here in this video, so if you have a moment, please check it out.

All of this to say, I enjoy teaching and spreading knowledge, especially when it comes to things that will help more Black stories to be seen, read, and told. I also love learning and will forever be a student of life. As I learn, you’ll learn. I plan to share updates on my own personal pursuits here in hopes that it will inspire you to consume and/or create more Black media.
